We felt that it may be prudent at this point to add some background information about the geeks behind the geekforce:

Way back in 1995, Dave, Ian, and Monty got bit by the Internet and threw a site up. That site, which you can see here was choisen as the Geek Site of the Day on about midnight (or so), September 14th, 1995.

Since then, we’ve been internet professionals, manufacturing gods, system wonks, and various other organizational roles that we have filled in ways that range form the ridiculous to the sublime!

In the interim, we have collectively found (and lost) about 2 dozen jobs, purchased 6 houses and 2 condos, had 3 sons and two daughters, lost nearly all of them, purchased at least 9 new cars (but likely more), crashed a goodly portion of them or went broke paying for them, broke promises, broke our mothers’ china that we ‘borrowed’, broke 2,759 wine bottle corks celebrating each other and our children, became broken up by our departing lovers, broke our own damn hearts by running away from a few TOO MANY of those that didn’t want us to freak or vanish, got divorced (2 of the 4 of us), lost 1 house, sold a house that was a bit of a heartbreak, rented a house next to an adored house formerly owned…

…and each of us individually have systematically ruined and rebuilt our lives at least twice, or perhaps even five times, since now we’re including Phil, our latest author.

Life can sometimes work in these ways–we drive under the influence of equal parts desperation and spontenaity.

We’ve changed servers a bunch, originally we were building the damn things out of spare parts, installing FreeBSD and Apache, and plugging in the network cable. Currently, the site’s is running on some brand new gear that Dave scored somehow. Way to go, Dave!

Why did we do this? Why do we do this? Ego stroking, mainly……and ranting.

Thank you for visiting us. Nail our ‘post comment’ icons liberally. We enjoy your feedback!
