Jamming

It’s a fine day. Sunday mornings are my sole moments of time when my head clears and soul settles.

I’ve had an iBoom on my ‘fridge–that’s a stereo boom-box-like contraption to insert my iPod into, whereby my crib fills with tunes, THE critical component to be sticking around.

Well, this morning I took it to a higher level. Each component to my music system (that’s been in the crib’s breezeway space) is heavy to carry, and damn well oughta’ be. I’m pretty far from my neighbors that have a little newborn and a 2-year old, plus their crib’s on the opposite side of the house.

The other side’s got a great big side yard, then a hill, then a silly-ass fence from, like, the forties or something, so let’s hook it all up.

Two 4′6″ JBL E60 speakers, baby. High-to-mid, curving down and getting a smidgeon of low, back up WAY high to the ‘best in industry’ (’05, anyway) tweeters.

One 80 lb. Sony WA-m500 Subwoofer. Flat SHAKES the ceilings, baby, and gives you an out-of-body experience in astro-projection toward the lower realm of sound waves. and…

One Yamaha 5840 AV Receiver which, like all receivers built and sold around the world, if it only didn’t have all that usless-to-me “AV” board control shit in it, the unit would deliver what receivers were CREATED to deliver:

MUSIC the way the artists gifted it to us!!

But, because the Yamaha honchos don’t much care what my opinion is on the gangrenous effect TVs introduction to our sound waves really is (I recall I did just mention that Yamaha’s leadership is Japanese)…

….then I suppose 200 watts-per-channel is fine.

With no wife to pick out what songs she likes to play with such volume to scare the cats–hers, mine and ours–clear to the next zip code….

…I reckon I’m going to proceed without her imaginary self and and fire up iTunes (one of the world’s greatest inventions) and the 27 days of music I have stored in it within my Mac G4 Powerbook, patched simple-as-you-please to the receiver’s substantial capabilities. Screw entirely, by the way, the AV stuff.

Billy Corgan and his wonderful band “The Smashing Pumpkins” is up first, throughout the time I go to church (in about an hour), and for another hour or so when I return.

This is going to flat ROCK.
