This is unnatural. It’s been a very tough period of time for me these last two or three months. Granted, there’s going to be a certain level of ‘natural attrition’ with any person and his friends. They’ll fall away, erode back into the wind, move away, whatever.
But not like this. Or at least, not that I’ve ever seen. It’s incessant, and it’s pulverizing. Friends are that which restore me and that allow me an outlet with which to give. Friday night my furnace went on the fritz. It would start the burners alright, but it would shut them off long before it had reached the temperature set on the thermostat.
So it was 59 - 60 degrees in my house. No big deal, really, but I had a killer head cold that was going around the office, and I’m just now getting over it. Dammit, where’s warmth when you really need it? (reptilian part of brain screams that Dave is too much of a wimp to deserve any warmth, and I should have what it gives me and like it…)
