Back in the day, the mac users that I remember were friendly, very smart, and savvy about their machines. But they also shared a philosophy.
It was a philosophy of experimentation. They were always trying new things, never assuming that something worked better one way than another.
The other important thing that Mac users had was a will to learn. The will to learn how to think about a problem within the confines of the problem, while understanding that their computer could lend them a hand from other departments when necessary.
“my clock is set to Dec. 1969″ - “Well, what sets my clock?”
It was a cool user community.
NOT ANY MORE
These days, Mac users are simple, lazy folks who dont even want to click on a new menu item ‘Lets see what the one does…’ to learn new things.
It pisses me off!
The Mac is now UNIX, with the release of OS X. And boy, mac users are the worst. I know. I am one.
The first to point the finger, the last to try to understand why. I’ve had to work with your heterogeneous systems. So, I get how stuff works differently from system to system.
I also experiment alot. pressing different buttons. playing with the interactions between functions.
Mac users used to do the same sort of stuff.
But I dont understand why you’d post a question about a software API Technical Note from Apple, and ask how to use it when USING some piece of software. The API, and the presentation are completely separate!!!
Then there’s all the ‘This software broke my computer’ posts.
If something breaks your system, the first thing you need to do is understand WHAT YOU DID, and why that might have caused a problem.
Mac users dont do this anymore. It’s like they cant get from point A to point B. They’ll tell you they can get from point D to point F using a shortcut they found once, but that’s as far as it goes.
Mac users, get back to basics. READ SOMETHING for once! for chrissake!
Y’all are a bunch of idiots.
Thank you.
