For the past decade or so, I have been making pretty good money in the computer field. I never wanted a career in the computer field, but I have one, so, since I am a decent fellow, I try to do my best.
I would like to share some of my stategies for all of the other folks out there who have a career and didn’t want one.
The first of which is:
Live close to where you work.
Why?
You will have much more free time, since you won’t have to spend a large chunk of time commuting.
You will be able to ride your bike to work. Heck, if you are really lucky, you can walk to work, like me. This will give you a nice sense of perspective.
You will be able to get into the office before your boss, and leave after your boss, so it will appear that you are always at work, when that is just not the case.
If there is an emergency (server goes down, router catches fire, flood, out of bagels, etc.), you can be the first on the scene and score major points.
So if you can, live close to work, it will help make that career monkey on your back a little lighter.
