I really want a MILSPEC laptop. Think it will run Linux?

For the past decade or so, I have been making pretty good money in the computer field. I never wanted a career in the computer field, but I have one, so, since I am a decent fellow, I try to do my best.
I would like to share some of my stategies for all of the other folks out there who have a career and didn’t want one.
The first of which is:
Live close to where you work.
Why?
You will have much more free time, since you won’t have to spend a large chunk of time commuting.
You will be able to ride your bike to work. Heck, if you are really lucky, you can walk to work, like me. This will give you a nice sense of perspective.
You will be able to get into the office before your boss, and leave after your boss, so it will appear that you are always at work, when that is just not the case.
If there is an emergency (server goes down, router catches fire, flood, out of bagels, etc.), you can be the first on the scene and score major points.
So if you can, live close to work, it will help make that career monkey on your back a little lighter.
I am not the writer to jump on the band wagon and blabber about BLOGS, seems everyone has one, including William Gibson (Which has to be about the best written BLOG I have run across), and some poor souls who are stationed in Afganistan . I love the video of traffic in Kabul.
Let me say first that I have a new job. I write document management software for a company that build secure internet proxy systems.
That said, I’ve had quite a ride for the last 2-3 months.
So this is my story… let me first tell you about getting a resume, and this company called Right Management. When I got laid off, one of the things that Williams did was pay a managment consulting firm to assist with re-placement. This was actually a really great thing for them to do for me.
So, about 3 days after i got laid off, i gave them a call.
Me - “Hi I’d like to get some help with my resume”
RM - “Well, we have a wonderful program here, that we know is really going to help you find a new job.”
Me - “What do I have to do to come and get some help with my resume”
RM - “We have great program, oyu need to come in for an orientation, and then we have a resume class”
Me - “I dont really need a class, just some help with my resume”
RM - “Most people dont the resume that they’ll have after they get through our class”
Me - “I just need to sit down with someone and go over my resume, and help me work through any rough points. It shoudn’t take too much time.”
RM - “I’m sensing some urgency”

Umm, on slashdot, there is this:
http://www.casperelectronics.com/ I thought it was pretty weird, but very cool.
I want one.
I have added a GeoURL link at the top of the page. This means that I’ve encoded the longitude and lattitude of the hosting facility (My house) in some meta tags for GeoURL to grab when it does a get on in the index page.
The link at the top of the page shows you GeekForce’s ‘Neighbors’ in meatspace!
Enjoy…
And please, if you haven’t already, go and USE the GeoURL service, and encode your location for it.
You can Generate RSS feeds for a while city - how cool is that?!
We ARE THE ONE TRUE GEEKFORCE!
We’ve got a great name.
So do these folks, although I think I keep getting mail for one of their techs…
I don’t know what www.geekforce.net and www.geekforce.org have got going, but we seem to be the only true geekforce serving pages. If those guys are just parking a domain, hey, we’ll serve something up for them, just get in touch.

I like SpamNet from Cloudmark. It’s free.
428 emails checked.
268 SPAM messages trashed.
Running at about 62% hit ratio so far. Go SpamNet Go!
Yeah, I said it… Happy new year!
